Co-op Hour: Worker Co-op Farms

Registration is closed for this event

Free/Gratis

Co-op Hour is the USFWC’s online, interactive gathering dedicated to exploring a specific topic within the worker cooperative movement, featuring worker-owners and experts in the field. In December, we'll be focused on Worker Co-op Farms, and we'll be featuring:

  • Hannah Breckbill of Humble Hands Harvest - a worker-owned co-operative farm, growing on 2+ acres of organic vegetables, grass-finished sheep, pastured pork, and fruit and nut trees.  Humble Hands Harvest practices un-conventional, organic, visionary, slow-growing agriculture, and strive to create a resilient landscape that grounds a vibrant local culture.
  • D. From Rock Steady Farm & Flowers - a for-profit farm located in Millerton, NY -- a rural and active community that uses holistic farming practices that allow us to grow high quality vegetables, cut flowers and herbs for a diverse array of market outlets. Rock Steady is grounded in close partnerships with other land based projects, neighbors, and non-profits who are also working to build equity in their region and beyond.
  • Gabriella della Croce from the Pioneer Workers Valley Center - an organization which is incubating a worker co-op farm, in connection to their vision of building institutions that directly represent the interests of working people. On May Day, 2019 they secured access to four acres of land, and are supporting six of their immigrant members in developing the farm, which is producing a diverse mix of vegetables in its first season.
